CareerBuilder Expands European Presence…
CareerBuilder.com has acquired Kariera.gr, the largest online job site in Greece. Kariera.gr will be powered by CareerBuilder technology but retain its existing brand name. CareerBuilder says its international network now tops more than three million in Europe.
In existence since 1997, Kariera.gr has a website, free weekly newspaper, executive training services, an annual job fair, and an annual career guide.
Greece has a labor participation rate in excess of 60%, with an Internet penetration rate close to 34%, according to Internet World Stats.
Gevity Say Goodbye to Vonk…
Gevity’s chief executive officer and chairman of the board has resigned.
Erik Vonk is leaving the position immediately, the company said Friday. In his place, the board of directors will appoint Michael J. Lavington as the new CEO and chairman.
“The Board and Erik agree that the company will benefit at this juncture from new leadership going forward,” Gevity director Jonathan H. Kagan said in a statement.
It was only two weeks ago that Gevity officially appointed Lavington to the newly created position of chief operating officer.
Lavington, a U.K. citizen, has been working for Gevity since September 2006. His appointment as CEO is subject to the approval of work authorization.
Kenexa Wins Corporate Star Award…
Philadelphia’s Forum of Executive Women has given out its Corporate Star Award to Kenexa, Johnson & Johnson, Cigna, and Charming Shoppes in recognition of the companies having corporate boards made up of at least 25% women.
Kenexa’s eight-person board of directors, for example, includes two women: Rebecca Maddox, general partner at Maddox Smye LLC and Dr. Renee Booth, president of Leadership Solutions, Inc.
“Kenexa maintains the belief that fostering diversity among our employees, our management team, and our board of directors enables us to better meet the needs of our customers,” Kenexa CEO Rudy Karsan said in a statement.
The Forum of Executive Women promotes the advancement of professional women in the greater Philadelphia area by supporting an increased leadership role for women in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
