Why should Glassdoor have all the fun?
Santa Monica, California-based Comparably, a relatively new player in the anonymous employee review space, has released its year-end ‘Best Places to Work’ lists. It coincides with Glassdoor’s lists, released this month as well.
Dating back to Nov. 2017, Comparably surveyed nearly 10 million employee ratings across 50,000 U.S. companies. Employees were asked more than 50 questions about how their employer ranked in terms of compensation, leadership, opportunities for professional development, work-life balance, and perks and benefits.
Among large companies, the Top 10 cultures went like this:
- Costco
- T-Mobile
- HubSpot
- Aflac
- Insight Global
- Intuit
- Salesforce
- Blizzard Entertainment
- Starbucks
Costco rocketed to the top ranking after being No. 35 in 2017. Google was last year’s top company. T-Mobile also enjoyed a bump after being No. 14 last year. Facebook fell to No. 16 after being last year’s No. 3-ranked employer.
In the employment space, a few companies enjoyed some real estate on the list. ADP came in at No. 23, with LinkedIn close behind at No. 25. Indeed came in at No. 43.
Among small- and medium-sized companies, the Top 10 list was as follows:
- Highspot
- Drift
- Sendgrid
- TripActions
- Phenom People
- Pipedrive
- People.ai
- CultureIQ
- Sitetracker
- Greenhouse
As you can see from Phenom People, CultureIQ, and Greenhouse making the Top 10 list, employment vendors fared well on Comparably’s list. Another HR vendor making the Top 50 was KRT Marketing at No. 23. Phenom People was also recognized in the Best CEO and Best Diversity categories. Lever’s CEO Sarah Nahm made the CEO list, coming in at No. 49.
Other recruiting technologies that enjoyed inclusion were Greenhouse, which ranked No. 11 for employing women in the small- to mid-sized organizations. Cornerstone OnDemand (9), Indeed (24), LinkedIn (28), and Workday (49) were all listed among the best companies for diversity.
Indeed was listed as one of the best places for “professional development.” LinkedIn (11), Cornerstone OnDemand (17), Indeed (28), and Workday (48) were recognized for having the best leadership teams. LinkedIn (18) and Indeed (28) were recognized for having competitive compensation. LinkedIn (11), Cornerstone OnDemand (16), and Indeed (30) were highlighted for their perks and benefits. Lastly, LinkedIn was the only vendor recognized for overall happiness, coming in at No. 9.
