New Editor at Recruiting.com…

Following Jason Davis’ departure at the end of April, John Sumser is taking over as executive editor of Jobster-funded Recruiting.com.

Not too many editorial changes are expected, though Sumser plans to add an editorial advisory board and monthly columnists.

Sumser praises Jobster CEO Jason Goldberg’s “generous” investment in Recruiting.com.

“It’s Jobster’s endowment to the recruiting community. Goldberg is being vastly more generous with his resources than any of his competitors,” he wrote in Electronic Recruiting News.

Sumser says this new part-time role will still allow him time to write his daily column on Interbiznet, which was founded in 1994.

Capture More Executive-Level Diversity…

CareerJournal.com, The Wall Street Journal’s executive career site, is holding an executive diversity career fair sponsored by UBS on Thursday, April 19, at the Embassy Suites Hotel Downtown in Chicago.

So far, companies that are participating include Accenture, Blue Cross, Chase Paymentech, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Con Agra, Eaton Corporation, Exelon Corporation, Fitch Ratings, General Electric, Harris Bank N.A. / BMO Financial Services, Illinois Tool Work Inc., Morgan Stanley, NAVTEQ, Schneider Electric, Smith Barney, Target, The Timken Company, UBS, Unitrin Inc., W.W. Grainger, and Zurich North American Insurance.

If you’re interested in getting your company’s name added to the list, or learning more about the fair, visit the fair’s website.

Test Your Staffing Smarts…

Can your company be liable for discriminating against a temporary or contract employee assigned by a staffing firm to work for you? To find out the answer to this and several other pertinent questions, head over to the American Staffing Association’s new online resource, Staffing Smarts.

The ASA says the ultimate goal is to have companies “not only recognize the value of using a staffing firm, but to choose staffing firms that are members of ASA.”

The site also includes links to staffing and employment law, government employment data, and selected case studies.
