Monster announced new media partnerships Monday, described as “the most compelling combination” of online and offline recruitment services to continue the company’s efforts at expanding its localization strategy.

Monster’s media alliances now touch 43 daily newspapers and eight television properties, including:

  • Freedom Communications, Inc. Monster will provide recruitment services to all of Freedom’s 36 newspapers, eight television stations, and numerous online brands across the country. Extending into 16 states, an initial launch is planned this month in The Orange County Register in Orange County, California; The Gazette in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, Arizona. The Freedom classified advertising network co-branding is expected to be finished by March 2007, and Freedom’s broadcast TV stations are expected to launch by the end of June 2007.
  • North Jersey Media Group. Monster will provide recruitment services for the entire media family — including The (Bergen) Record, Herald News, and 44 weekly newspapers. The co-branded sites will be unveiled in January 2007, according to the company.
  • The Wilkes-Barre Times Leader. Monster will provide recruitment services for this Northern Pennsylvania daily, with an expected co-branding launched in the coming weeks.
  • The Honolulu Star-Bulletin. Monster will introduce its co-branded sites to the Hawaii daily in January 2007.

In October, the company announced a partnership with the Akron Beacon Journalonly three months after its newly announced deal with Philadelphia Media Holdings LLC, owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and philly.com.

In fact, the company says its first media alliance with Philadelphia Media Holdings has shown a 25% increase in the number of page views recorded on philly.com’s career page.

Monster says it hopes to continue to pursue small- and medium-sized businesses as one of its major areas of growth. The company notes that the latest additions will help to solidify and grow a presence in the regions where these companies are based.

“Small and medium-sized businesses present a major area of growth for Monster,” said Peter Newton, senior vice president and general manager, SMB, Monster, in a news release.

“These alliances establish an immediate foothold in key local markets — bolstering our creditability with these employers, extending our brand in the cities and regions where they are based, and underscoring our relevance among seekers,” Newton added.
